Dr. Mindy Pelz did not become a household name by selling a 40-pill personality. She became one by arguing that women's metabolism is not a smaller version of men's, and that fasting, food, and a short list of compounds have to move with estrogen, progesterone, and the ATP budget underneath both.
Pelz is a chiropractor, the host of The Resetter Podcast, and the author of Fast Like a Girl and Eat Like a Girl. Her public thesis is blunt: estrogen stimulates creatine synthesis; when estrogen falls in perimenopause and menopause, cellular energy can fall with it. Fasting can be a tool for insulin, autophagy, and ketones. It is also a mineral and gut-barrier stressor if you treat it as a contest.
This article is an educational map of compounds Pelz has discussed in her own writing, podcast, and shop recommendations. X-Optimum has no affiliation with Pelz, The Resetter Podcast, Reset Academy, or any brand she promotes. Copy the biology. Do not copy a celebrity endorsement that does not exist.
1. Creatine: the phosphate buffer when estrogen drops
On her Substack (June 23, 2026) and in Resetter episode 328, Pelz said she had been using creatine for about two years. She framed it as ATP recycling, not a bodybuilding aesthetic. Creatine phosphate donates a phosphate to ADP so working muscle and brain can rebuild ATP without waiting on glycolysis. She has also said estrogen supports endogenous creatine production, so stores can sag when that hormonal support withdraws.
That is a mechanism argument, not a guarantee that every woman will feel a change. Pelz is explicit about N-of-1: some women in her community felt nothing, some disliked how they felt, some needed a different variable first.
X-Optimum overlap is direct.
Optimized Creatine Monohydrate ($21.99) is creatine monohydrate, the form with the largest human evidence base for muscle phosphocreatine and the form Pelz is discussing when she talks about filling a deficit. It is not a hormone replacement. It is a phosphate buffer.
If you want a women's micronutrient floor next to that phosphate work, Optimum Woman Multivitamin ($17.99) and Vitalized Women Formula ($17.99) sit in the same catalog. They do not replace creatine. They cover B-vitamins and mineral cofactors that sit upstream of energy metabolism.
Honest gap: Pelz sometimes discusses creatine in the context of midlife sleep and 3 a.m. wake-ups. That is still creatine's CNS ATP story, not a melatonin protocol. Do not treat creatine as a sleep drug.
2. Magnesium and mineral repletion during fasting
Pelz's shop lists BEAM minerals and BiOptimizers Magnesium Breakthrough as personal favorites. In fasting education she repeatedly treats electrolytes and magnesium as non-optional hardware: sodium, potassium, magnesium, and trace minerals keep the Na/K ATPase and neuromuscular firing from collapsing when food (and the minerals that come with it) is gone for 16, 24, or 36 hours.
Magnesium is a cofactor for hundreds of enzymes, including those that stabilize ATP as Mg-ATP. Fasting plus coffee plus sweat is a reliable way to run that pool down. Pelz's public point is not "buy seven forms of magnesium because seven is magic." It is that mineral debt masquerades as willpower failure.
X-Optimum does not sell a dedicated electrolyte powder or a seven-form magnesium capsule. Do not pretend we do.
What we do sell that sits on adjacent hardware:
Optimized Sleep Formula ($17.99) and Better Sleep Strips ($17.99) are for overnight architecture when the complaint is wired-and-tired 3 a.m. signaling. They are not BEAM. They are not a replacement for sodium in water during a long fast.
Optimized Multivitamin ($17.99) and the women's multis above provide a micronutrient floor that can include magnesium among other minerals. That is a floor, not a therapeutic repletion dose.
Honest gap: isolated high-dose magnesium glycinate/threonate and liquid trace-mineral electrolytes.
3. Gut barrier and the microbiome after the fast
Pelz's shop highlights ION* Gut Support (soil-derived humic extract for barrier integrity) and she has publicly pushed bone broth as a refeed tool. Fasting changes motility, bile flow, and substrate for microbes. Breaking a fast with junk is a glucose and LPS problem. Breaking it with minerals, collagen-rich broth, and a quieter gut is her stated preference.
X-Optimum overlap is the probiotic and food-matrix layer, not ION*.
Optimized Super Probiotic ($17.99) is a multi-strain probiotic for the microbial side of barrier and SCFA production. It is not humic extract. It is not a substitute for how you break the fast.
Superfood Greens Formula ($19.99) and Superfood Reds Formula ($19.99) are polyphenol and phytonutrient matrices. They can sit next to a refeed. They do not replace bone broth amino acids.
Honest gap: ION* / humic extract and Kettle & Fire-style broth. We do not sell either.
4. Collagen as connective tissue, not a leucine meal
Pelz's favorites include MariGold collagen/protein snacks and Paleovalley bone-broth proteins. Collagen is glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline for extracellular matrix. It is not a complete protein. It will not hit the leucine threshold Dr. Gabrielle Lyon talks about at breakfast. Pelz's world still uses it as connective tissue and as a gentle refeed texture, not as a steak replacement.
Grass-Fed Bovine Collagen Peptides Powder (Chocolate) ($24.99) is that glycine/proline input. Use it as connective tissue. Do not count it as 30 g of complete protein.
5. HPA-axis load: ashwagandha as optional, not mandatory
Pelz's public fasting work is as much cortisol timing as it is insulin. Long fasts, poor sleep, and under-eating in the luteal window can look like "the protocol failed" when the HPA axis is the actual limiter. She does not run a signature ashwagandha brand the way she runs mineral affiliates, so this mapping is mechanistic, not a quote of a daily dose.
Withania somnifera (KSM-66 and related extracts) has human data on perceived stress and cortisol. Shilajit is a fulvic mineral complex sometimes stacked with it for mitochondrial support.
Optimized Ashwagandha ($14.99) and Ashwagandha and Shilajit Adaptogen Complex ($17.99) are the catalog tools for that HPA load. Optimized Ayurvedic Complex ($17.99) is a broader botanical layer.
Do not treat adaptogens as a license to fast through a wrecked luteal phase.
6. Cellular energy beyond creatine: NAD+ is a different conversation
Pelz's creatine episodes keep circling ATP. NAD+ is the hydride shuttle that lets mitochondria run the TCA cycle and sirtuins in the first place. She has not built her public brand on Sinclair-style NMN grams. Forcing that stack onto her name would be dishonest.
If you personally want precursor support next to creatine, the catalog has Optimized NMN ($19.99) and Optimized NAD+ ($21.99). Treat those as optional cellular-energy tools, not as "Pelz's NAD protocol."

Build Your Fasting-Hormone Stack at X-Optimum
Pelz's public protocol is cycle-aware fasting plus a short list of deficits: creatine when estrogen no longer drives synthesis, minerals when food is absent, gut hardware when you refeed, collagen for matrix, and stress tools when the HPA axis is the bottleneck.
X-Optimum can cover creatine, collagen, probiotic, greens/reds, ashwagandha, sleep architecture, and women's multis. We cannot cover BEAM electrolytes, ION* humic extract, Ketone-IQ, or bone broth. Those stay named gaps on purpose.
